Potter Albert Hodge is one of the longtime Catawba Valley NC famed folk potters. Initially he started his shop in Newton, NC in the late 1980's and moved shortly thereafter to his Vale, NC location. He turns a wide variety of southern folk pottery, and is particularly noted for his face jugs and figurals. Amongst his figurals, his roosters and incorporation of roosters in his figurals, are some of his most famous forms. Also he is one of a handful of southern potters that has his work included in the Smithsonian collection. This face jug is Albert's take on President Obama, and only a few of this form was made several years ago. On the side of the face he inscribed 'Obama'. The face jug stands 8″ tall and 7.5″ max width. Signed by Albert also on the jug side. Mint condition. $18 s/i.
