Catawba Indian Pottery Mini Cupid Jug

$75.00

This is wood-fired, mini jug coming from the mid 1920’s to late 50’s. I hadn’t look at it a long time and I didn’t remember noticing ‘Made by Cherokee Indian’. This piece was made by Catawba for the Cherokee touristware trade, and marked for the purposes of the tourist trade. This is one way that the Catawba were able to support their families while also continuing their pottery tradition, even via other markets. This tiny cupid jug is mostly a beige color with some darks browns on the side. The handles seamlessly transition into each other, where there are two tiny openings. The jug stands 2” tall by 1.75” max width. Mint condition. $75 & $10 s/i.
