Chad Smith Pottery Face Jug Jar

The potter that truly moved my collecting/dealing/trading onto the web, outside of Ebay and private email dealings, is Chad Smith, from Polkville, NC. In fall 2008, when he received his invitation to the Hickory Fest, suddenly friends and I had to create an online forum with which to represent him. There was a meetup in Black Mountain, NC that January 2009, and southernpots.com was nominated and voted as the website of choice by my friends. Fine, and it had a great run. Now ncpottery.com, is live, and fully under our management, to determine its course.

Chad did very well at the Hickory show in March 2009 and southernpots.com was launched in conjunction.

This face jar, by Chad, is an awesome piece, and is featured in Valley Ablaze: Pottery Tradition of the Catawba Valley. This is same face jar pictured! And what a great Chad it is. He was proud (and he is the most humble person you'll meet) he stamped both handles with his CS initials. This was fired in Hal Dedmond's kiln a couple years ago. Great drippy dark alkaline glaze. The face jar stands 10″ tall by 7″ max width. $20 s/i.
