Richard Kale is one of tri-generation of Catawba Valley Potters. Harry, his father, has passed away, and his son Jamie is not very active in turning now. Richard unfortunately had to stop making pottery in 2003 due to health conditions. This face mug is definitely a rare form. The Kale Pottery, Catawba, NC stamp is near the base, and signed Kale Pottery on the base from 1999. Stands 5.5″ tall. There's a firing line around one eye as pictured.
