Walter Fleming Pottery Swirled Face Jug

Walter Fleming Pottery Swirled Face Jug

This Walter Fleming Face Jug was turned and in the early to mid-1990’s. Another interesting fact about Walter is that he turns his pots (i.e. including swirl), due to being left-handed and it was logical to him, counter-clockwise. This is not true of all southpaw potters. No doubt this face jug is very nice piece of southern folk pottery. There are subtle incised details although hard-to-see, the pattern is a sine line decoration located towards the top of the piece. The face's colors are a beige and a sandy brown. The facial features have an appealing look to it. Walter Fleming employs China teeth. Walter employed his mini block stamp on the base & base edge, standard practice on his earlier pots. The Face Jug stands 8.5″ tall by 6″ max width. Mint Condition. $100 & $18 s/i.
