Turned by Kim Ellington in 2012. This was 1 of 5/6 made special in honor of the Catawba Valley Pottery Festival that year. Kim started making face jugs again about 5 years ago and only makes them for his Christmas kiln opening. There was about dozen+ years he made none. But the festival he turned out this grouping and these are the first swirl face jugs he had made since the early 1990’s. This is a truly extra special example. Plus there is some blue rutile, not likely added by Kim, but likely part of the glaze/clay. I will mention the rock teeth too since you talked about faces with teeth. The face jug stands 11 tall by 7.5”. Marked by Kim on base as described in the name. $30 s/i.
