This is a Walter Fleming Walter mini snake jug, made possibly as early as 2000. Walter learned a few things early on from Burlon, but pretty much is a self-taught Catawba Valley potter. He is a retired Presbyterian minister and has his pottery shop in Statesville, NC. The snake that Walter face jugs always has lots of character. He may not go crazy with a straw, creating endless number scales, as some other southern potters and very neat, but this snake is his own original design. Plus there is his trademark incised sine wave & line decoration. The jug stands 5″ tall by 4.5″ max width. Signed with his tiny block stamp on the base. Mint condition. $10 s/i.
