Walter Fleming, the most senior of the traditional potters of the NC Catawba Valley, lives outside Statesville. Walter learned a few things early on from Burlon Craig, but pretty much is a self-taught Catawba Valley potter. He is a retired Presbyterian minister. And continues to turn and attend some regional shows, including the Catawba Valley Pottery Festival. This ring jug was made in the late 2000's and has an ash glaze which Walter likes to employ with his pots. Signed in script on the base as pictured. The ring dimensions are 10.5″ by 9″ by 1.75″.
