Beulah Harris Catawba Indian Turtle

Beulah Harris Catawba Indian Turtle

Beulah (born 1929) worked initially in the touristware trade of the mid-20th century. After that dried up, she became active again in the early 1990’s. I have had the pleasure of knowing Beulah for many years. She is no longer active due to the arthritis in her hands. Much of her is simple, smaller in nature, and not overly refined/decorated, but a style uniquely her own. Also in her later years she had trouble with firelines/spirit cracks so to speak developing during the firing. This turtle is an exception to this and even have some basic incised decoration. It’s a gem of Beulah’s work. The figural stands 2.5 by 6.5”. $15 s/i.
