Chester Hewell, a member of multi-generation family of Hewell, created this beautiful Snake Face Jug in 1999.  Chester is the son of the recently passed potter Harold Hewell, and living potter Grace Nell (i.e. the living matriarch of the family).  The family has an active greenware pottery operation that supplies companies such as Lowe's Hardware.  One should stop by and see this truly amazing operation in Gillsville, GA, a throwback to the pottery operations that no longer exist anywhere in the South.  This piece is one of the folk pots that family members take time out to make for fun and for tourist/collectors sales.  The face stands 10″ by 8″ max width.  Mint condition.  $25 s/i.
