This is a Marie Rogers Mini 'Mottled' or Modified Albany Slip Face Jug, made by her circa 1990. Marie was from Meadesville, GA. She was a pioneer, as a woman folk potter, amongst the heavily male potter dominated southern pottery tradition. She was a very special woman to know, and very humble. She fell into pottery in many senses because her husband passed away ~ 40 years ago, and took up the tradition of the Rogers family of potters. This mini face jug by her is particularly nice. Collectors love mini Marie faces, and the initial three chosen to present on ncpottery.com, are top notch. The face stands a tiny 2.5″ tall by 2.25″ max width. Mint. $10 s/i.
